Artist statement by Bill Holderfield:
"So much of what I shoot is about revisiting fading memories of my childhood. Growing up in 1970’s Cleveland, Ohio in a working class family, I was surrounded by slow industrial decay, classic cars, shake shops and every other icon of American culture you can think of. These places and things still hold a strong grip on my psyche. One of my motivations for photographing these places is to simply document them before they’re all gobbled up by corporate gentrification zombies. That, and I’m haunted by the past in ways that I still don’t entirely understand."
